Aggie Kevin Robinson named to pre-season All-American team

Utah State return man Kevin Robinson has been named to another preseason All-America football team as he has been tabbed to the www.CollegeSportsReport.com preseason team announced by the site.

Robinson, a sophomore from Fresno, Calif., was named third team kickoff returner behind Ashlan Davis of Tulsa and John Eubanks of Southern Mississippi.

Robinson averaged 25.1 yards on 13 kickoff returns a year ago.  He also returned one 94 yards for a touchdown against UL-Monroe.  As a punt returner, Robinson averaged 22.5 yards on 17 returns with two scores.  His punt return average ranked second in the country.

His 25.1 kickoff return average would have ranked 20th in the country, but he was one return shy of qualifying for the national statistics.

Punt returners named to the All-America team included Devin Hester of Miami (first team), Teddy Ginn of Ohio State (second team), third-team selection Ryne Robinson of Miami (Ohio) and fourth-team pick Reggie Bush of USC.

Last year Robinson earned several All-America honors including first-team Freshman All-America kickoff return specialist (Football Writers Association of America), second-team Freshman All-America Return Specialist (The Sporting News), Third-team Freshman All-America wide receiver (The Sporting News), first-team all-Sun Belt Conference Return Specialist, and second-team all-Sun Belt Conference All-Purpose.

This preseason, Robinson has been ranked as high as the nation’s fourth best return man by The Sporting News.

Utah State football players report August 9 and begin practice on August 10.  Season tickets for USU’s six-game home schedule, which includes a contest against Boise State, are on sale at www.UtahStateAggies.com, 1-888-U-STATE-1, (435) 797-0305, or at the Dee Glen Smith Spectrum ticket office.
