Aggie men’s volleyball club takes second at Arizona tournament, losing to host in the final

The No. 10 USU men’s volleyball team finished second behind No. 1-ranked University of Arizona at a tournament in Tucson, Ariz., March 9-10, losing 25-17, 25-17 in the championship game.

Utah State entered tournament play as the third seed with a 2-2 record during pool play. The Aggies beat Northern Arizona University, Southern Utah University and lost to Weber State University and Arizona during pool play.

In the tournament, Utah State beat Salt Lake Community College 25-23, 24-26, 15-13. The Aggies then faced WSU again and won 18-25, 25-21,15-12.

In the championship match against Arizona, Utah State jumped out to a 9-2 lead in the first game, before Arizona regained the lead and won. Arizona led the entire second game. Arizona, two-time defending club Division I national champions, did not drop a game during the tournament.

Arizona State, No. 6 University of Utah, SUU and a second Arizona team also participated in the tournament.
