Three Aggies finished with personal bests as Utah State’s track and field team competed in the Bronco Invitational Feb. 8-9, hosted by Boise State.

“We had big improvements tonight from both the men and the women’s teams,” USU head coach Gregg Gensel said. “I thought our kids did really well.”

The USU men competed against Arizona State, Boise State, College of Idaho, Eastern Oregon and Northwest Nazarene.

The USU women competed against Arizona State, Boise State, Nevada, Cal State Stanislaus, San Diego State, College of Idaho, VSAT Track Club, San Francisco State, Eastern Oregon and Northwest Nazarene.

Aggie junior Nick Karren, who has been named Western Athletic Conference track athlete of the week twice already this year, continued his dominance by winning the 60-meter hurdles while setting a personal best time of 8.14. Karren also placed third in the 200 meters with a time of 21.66.

On the women’s side, USU senior Amy Egan, running among 20 other athletes, placed first in the 800 meters and finished in convincing fashion with a time of 2:10.33, which is currently a WAC-leading time.

In the women’s mile, USU junior Stacie Dorius, sophomore Vanessa Gledhill and junior Alison Taylor placed second, third and fourth respectively.

In the men’s mile, seven Aggies finished in the top 10 with Seth Wold leading the team, finishing second with a time of 4:12.82.

The Aggies continue to look stronger every week and are consistently finishing in the top spots of their events, with many athletes posting personal bests. Following the Air Force Invitational last week, Gensel said, “If each athlete can get better in one area every meet, then as a coach, I am very satisfied.”

The Aggies now head to Seattle, Wash., on Feb. 15-16 to participate in the Washington Invitational before competing in the WAC Championships the following week.
