Aggie volleyball player earns athletic honor
Utah Statesman: What got you interested in volleyball?
Zuzana Cernianska: My sister because she is older and started before me.
US: Did you play any other sports in high school?
ZC: In elementary school I played basketball for four years.
US: Do you ever think about playing it now?
ZC: No. I hate running. I can’t play basketball anymore.
US: Are there any differences in the way they play in Prague compared to here in the United States.
ZC: Here, they play faster. Also, back home they play to 25 points and here they play to 30.
US: What were some of the other universities interested in you?
ZC: There was a college in Miami and there was a college in Michigan.
US: What are you studying?
ZC: Business.
US: What do you plan to do after graduation?
ZC: Go home. I don’t know if I want to play volleyball professionally or start working.
US: What kind of work do you want to do?
ZC: I don’t know yet, something in an office maybe.
US: Outside of volleyball, what are some other activities you enjoy?
ZC: I like to travel to different countries – Europe and places like that.
US: What feels better, a block or a spike?
ZC: That’s a hard question. Probably, if it’s good, a block.
US: Next year you are a senior. Are you nervous about some of the leadership responsibilities you will have?
ZC: No. Right now we have just one senior and I have to be a leader right now.
US: What is your advice for high school girls who will be playing college volleyball next year?
ZC: It’s a lot different. You have to work harder than in high school. You have to be all the time right on time, you can’t be late.
