Aggies defeat Spartans

The Aggie defense held San Jose State to four rushing yards as Utah State beat the Spartans 49-17 on Saturday.

The Aggie defense sacked SJSU quarterback David Fales for a school-record 13 times.

Aggie quarterback Chuckie Keeton had 320 total yards and three passing touchdowns with no interceptions.

Senior running back Kerwynn Williams led the ground game for USU with 15 carries for 176 yards and three rushing touchdowns.

Fales lost 98 yards on the ground, but completed 38 passes for 467 yards and three touchdowns through the air, two of them to junior receiver Noel Grigsby.

The win brings USU to 5-2 and 1-0 in Western Athletic Conference play, while San Jose State drops to 4-2 and 1-0 in WAC.

The Aggies next host New Mexico State on Oct. 20 at 1 p.m.
