The Utah State women’s volleyball team opened Western Athletic Conference play with a win over the University of Texas-San Antonio in four sets Thursday.

Sophomore outside hitter Rachel Orr finished with 18 kills to lead three Aggies in double figures, while sophomore setter Paige Neves dished out 41 assists. USU had a season-low two blocks, but overcame a mediocre .177 hitting percentage.

Utah State took the first two sets by identical 25-22 scores before UTSA was able to bounce back with a 25-23 win in the third. Errors proved costly for the Roadrunners and Orr finished it off with a kill to seal the win.

Utah State improved to 6-2 overall this season and 1-0 in WAC play. The Aggies will conclude their 7-game road trip with a visit to Texas State on Saturday, Sept. 15 at 1 p.m.
