Led by a trio of double-doubles, 5th-ranked Notre Dame ran past the Utah State women’s basketball team 109-70 Saturday in South Bend, Ind., to improve to 6-1 on the season.

Natalie Achonwa led five Irish players in double figures with 23 points and pulled down 12 rebounds while Markisha Wright added 14 points and 11 boards. Skylar Diggins added 12 points for Notre Dame and dished out 10 assists as the Irish shot a scorching 69 percent from the field in the first half.

Senior Devyn Christensen scored a team-high 21 points, but the Aggies had no answer on the boards as Notre Dame out-rebounded Utah State 47-21 for the game. Foul trouble also hurt USU as senior forward Jenna Johnson fouled out early in the second half.

Utah State fell to 2-7 overall this season, having played eight of its first nine games on the road.
The Aggies return to the friendly confines of the Dee Glen Spectrum for the remainder of the month with a 4-game homestand.

Next up is a visit from the University of California-Irvine Dec. 18. Tipoff between the Aggies and Anteaters is scheduled for 7 p.m.
