Twenty-one players signed on to the Utah State football team during Wednesday’s national signing day. In the group that will make up head coach Brent Guy’s fourth recruiting class are four tight ends and a replacement for explosive wide receiver and return specialist Kevin Robinson. Tremel Kline, a 6-foot-3-inch, 200-pound junior college transfer from South Carolina, is the man Aggie coaches hope can fill the gaping hole left by Robinson. “We’re excited about this class coming in,” USU recruiting coordinator and assistant coach Danilo Robinson said. “We’ve addressed some needs that we have, and hopefully some guys can come in and fill some holes. We’re excited about this group and are looking forward to a great year from them. On average, they’re a little bit taller, a little bit faster with potential to play right away for us.” Three players are from the state of Utah, including Tanner Richins of Logan High School. Fourteen are from California, another from Missouri, and 16 coming out of high school. Four are defensive lineman and two are offensive lineman.

“Linemen are usually a priority, whether they be offensive linemen or defensive linemen,” Robinson said. “We addressed that need by getting some older guys, a little bit bigger guys. As the season went last year, we had some injuries, and we had to go with some younger players and we got worn down a little bit. We felt we addressed that need by signing several bigger body-type players that can come in and have an immediate impact.”
