ALUMNI BAND BRINGS 4TH OF JULY WEEKEND TO A CLOSE WITH A PATRIOTIC SHOW

In honor of July 4, Utah State University‚s Alumni Band presents a concert of patriotic tunes at the Old Main Hill Amphitheater on Sunday, July 6, at 7 p.m.

“We invite the audience to bring a picnic supper and sit on the lawn or in the amphitheater to enjoy this concert, bringing the Fourth-of-July weekend to a close,” said Nicholas Morrison, director of the alumni band. “Since it‚s outside, families are especially encouraged to attend.”

This outside concert features patriotic tunes, including “Star Spangled Banner” and “Amazing Grace” by Tichelli.

“This concert is made up of all American composers and virtually all patriotic tunes,” said Morrison. “The energy level should be high.”

The band‚s salute to America includes other tunes, such as “Armed Forces Medley” by Darcy and “God Bless America” by Berlin. John Phillip Sousa‚s brass band sound fills the amphitheater with the song “Manhattan Beach.”

“We take our hats off to veterans as well as to those who serve in other ways ~ the Merchant Marines, members of the National Guard and public safety personnel such as firefighters and police officers,” said Morrison.

Admission to the concert is free for all. If inclement weather occurs, the concert will be moved indoors to the Kent Concert Hall at Utah State. The next concert is July 20 at 7 p.m. in the Kent Concert Hall.
