Aniambossou wins MW Sixth Player of the Year
Sunday, senior forward Marlene Aniambossu became Utah State’s first ever Sixth Player of the Year. This marks the first time in Conference history that an Aggie has taken home that award and the first individual honor for Utah State since the 2016-2017 season. She was the lone Aggie named to any of the all-conference teams or awards making her the first since Shannon Dufficy made the all-conference team last season.
The Utah State senior is tied for second on Utah State with 10.6 points per Mountain West game and is ranked second on the team in rebounds, pulling down 5.4 per game. She recorded a career-high 18 points against Colorado State on Feb. 12. and tallied double figure scoring in nine Mountain West contests.
Aniambossou improved on nearly every one of her offensive numbers from last season, jumping from 3.1 points, 2.3 rebounds and 8.6 minutes in the 2018/19 season. This season she started 11 games and averaged just over 20 minutes per game, becoming a vital part of Utah State’s physical presence down low. In addition, the senior made one of the most memorable shots in recent Aggie history to take down Boise State on Feb. 8.
