Another loss for lacrosse
The USU lacrosse team lost 16-12 to Boise State Saturday night in Romney Stadium and is now mired in a three-game losing streak.
Coach Matt Polytyka said he was angry after the loss because he felt the Aggies could have won the game.
“I guess for the team we brought, we played well,” Polytyka said.
The Aggies only had 13 players dressed for the game due to family issues, three injuries, and Kent Arnold’s suspension.
“With only three subs, it was rough,” Polytyka said. “We would have won if we’d had our regular team.”
Polytyka said the Broncos jumped out to a 3-0 lead within the first two minutes of the game and although the Aggies fought back well they were never able to close the gap.
“We just didn’t have any legs left in the fourth quarter,” the coach said. “Lack of experience and a low number of players was the deciding factor.”
Polytyka said he hopes his young team will learn from the loss and focus for Wednesday’s big game at BYU.
“They’re good, but not as good as they usually are,” Polytyka said of the Cougars. “Possession is the key, we need to possess the ball on offense and slow things down. We win by slowing it down.”
