Arleen McKnight Named Assistant Softball Coach

LOGAN, Utah — Utah State head softball coach Candi Letts announced the hiring of Arleen McKnight as assistant coach on Thursday (Aug. 3). McKnight, who coached with Letts at the University of Mississippi from 1999-2001, is returning to coaching after working in athletic administrationand event management at Ole Miss. “I’m excited to have Arleen back in coaching and joining my staff here at Utah State,” Letts said. “She is a very good multi-tasker and very goodat recognizing talent and utilizing that talent to the best of its abilities. We’re looking forward to making this program successful again.” A native of Marionville, Mo., McKnight graduated from Southwest Missouri State University, now Missouri State University, in 1996, with a bachelor’s degree in biochemistry. McKnight went on to play women’s competitive softball, winning four national tournaments, before a knee injury ended her playing career. During her high school career, she was a three-time all-conference performer and still holds several high school and Missouri state softballrecords. Utah State finished its inaugural season in the Western Athletic Conference with an 8-38 overall record and a 3-14 conference mark, finishingseventh in the league and missing the postseason tournament.
