ASUSU conducting student surveys

Council meeting Tuesday. Tier II Tuition money is set aside by the administration for ASUSU to spend on student initiatives said Jacob Roskelley, ASUSU public relations director.

President Noah Riley said a good method to get feedback is for each ASUSU member to approach students with surveys and ask them what their primary concerns are.

Graduate Studies Vice President, Maure Smith, said the easiest way to total survey results would be to have an online survey engine on the ASUSU website and suggested the council consider using the website in addition to face-to-face contact.

Roskelley said only very passionate students would use the website and it’s important to meet with many students to get a general idea of what people care about.

Academic Senate President Michelle Lundberg said the council should be primarily concerned with the opinions of passionate students as they are the ones who care about the issues, although “it’s important that we gather apathetic student opinions as well.”

Last year student concerns with classroom improvement led to the creation of classroom improvement funds allocated by the Tier II tuition committee.
