ASUSU forms committees

The ASUSU Executive Council formed two committees Tuesday in an effort to better involve council members on specific issues throughout campus.

In light of recent controversies with the Homecoming dance being canceled and then rescheduled, a four-member committee was formed within the Executive Council.

“(The committee) is meant to evaluate this year’s Homecoming dance,” said Quinn Millet, ASUSU president.

This year the Homecoming dance is casual dress and students are not required to bring a date, said Laurel Evans, ASUSU Programming vice president. The dance is free to students with their ID cards and $5 without it.

The committee will just meet once after the Homecoming dance on Oct. 7.

Another four-member committee was also formed to work throughout the year on preparations for the renovation of the HPER Building. Although renovations won’t be made for the next few years, members of the committee hope to educate the faculty on the progress being made.

The building is second on USU’s list for reconstruction. It will require $10-15 million to complete the renovation. Rosie Strong, ASUSU Athletics vice president, has been working since this summer until now on the plans for the renovation of the HPER.
