Bad night for Lady Ags

Paul Kelley

USU could not keep their winning streak alive as bad shooting led to a 53-46 loss at Louisiana Tech.
The Lady Techsters started the game off fast scoring the first seven points. The Aggies then put a run of their own together scoring the next six points.
The Ags were led by Shawnta Pope who finished with 10 points and 11 rebounds to record her first double-double. Eight of Pope’s 11 rebounds came in the first half.
One big key was that Louisiana Tech held Utah State’s leading scorer, Danyelle Snelgro,  to just two points in the first half and nine points in the game. The Aggies struggled to score throughout the game, shooting only 28.6 percent from the field and a dismal 12.5 from behind the arc.
The Lady Techsters were led by forward Adrienne Johnson, who led all scorers with 20 points and pulled down five rebounds. LTU’s Shanavia Dowdell followed with 18 points and 13 rebounds. Despite Pope’s aggressive rebounding, Louisiana Tech outrebounded the Aggies by seven, 47-40.
USU kept the game relatively close during the first half until the seven-minute mark where they only scored four more points and went into the half down 26-22.
Pope started the second half for the first time this year and continued to play hard. In the end, though, it was not enough as the Lady Techsters outscored the Aggies 27-24 in the second half.
The Aggies will finish up the season with two home games, March 5 against San Jose State, and March 7 against Fresno State.
