BLOTTER: Police news from the Campus and Community

Sept. 9, 2002 Police responded to the Science and Technology Library on a report of a high-pitched noise. The noise seemed to be coming from the air vents. Facilities responded to fix the problem.

Police responded to the ASTE on a fire alarm. The alarm was set off by an employee who pulled a pull station when he thought he saw smoke. The alarm was reset without further incident. Police responded to a report of skateboarders doing tricks on a cement curb near the Biology and Natural Resources Building. The skateboarders were located and informed of the University’s policy concerning the recreational use of skateboards, in-line skates and bicycles.

Police responded to Merrill Hall on a report of an individual who was having severe neck pain and was unable to move. The individual was found to have had a muscle cramp and was no longer experiencing the problem when police arrived. Sept. 10, 2002 Police responded to a possible smell of marijuana at Mountain View Tower. The smell was found to be newly-painted shelves.

Police responded to Mountain View Tower on a report of fireworks being thrown from the building. Police checked the area and did not find the persons involved. No further action was taken.

Police received a report of a student skateboarding in the Terrace parking lot who had fallen off his board in order to avoid a shuttle bus.

Sept. 11, 2002 Police responded to a report of a stolen bike from the Engineering Building. The bike was taken sometime during the summer.

A metal sign was stolen from the northwest area of the Stadium parking lot. The sign indicated that the area is closed for band practice from 2 to 4:30 p.m. Police are investigating the incident.

An individual reported receiving an obscene telephone call from a USU number.

Sept. 12, 2002 Police received a call from someone who witnessed a bicycle collide with an automobile on 1200 East and about 1200 North. Police arrived shortly after the call, but everyone involved had already left the area and could not be identified or located.

A complainant was awakened by a loud TV. It was her own, she thinks someone entered her residence and turned the TV on and left. She wants a car to drive through the area to see if there is anyone prowling around.
