BLOTTER: Police news from the campus and community

Jan. 17, 2003 USU Police received a report of an auto burglary that took place in the parking lot west of the Spectrum during the basketball game on Jan. 9. Police are investigating.

USU Police responded to the area of Aggie Village on a report of a suspicious person. When police arrived, they contacted an individual who was looking through a Dumpster for cans.

Police responded to Richards Hall on a report of a suspicious drug act. A marijuana stem was confiscated from a student resident. The situation is under investigation.

Jan. 18, 2003 Police responded to the Eccles Harrison Art Museum on a possible carbon monoxide poisoning. This was due to a power generator, which came on during a brief power failure, near the building. Logan Fire also responded to check the building for carbon monoxide. No problems were found. Police responded to Mountain View Tower on a report of a smell of smoke. The odor was determined to have come from a soda machine on the second floor.

A caller requested an officer speak to her 5-year-old daughter about stealing.

Jan. 19, 2003 A caller reported that he had seen several juveniles passing a pipe in a vehicle and believed he could smell burned marijuana.

Jan. 21, 2003 Police received a report that Café Sabor had received counterfeit money. A caller stated there were two goats and a llama in the roadway.

A campus resident reported that his rear camper shell window had been blown out. He had heard a loud noise or a small explosion outside and upon checking, found his vehicle damaged. Police responded to a harassment incident in the Fieldhouse and are investigating.

Police and fire marshals responded to Davis Hall on a fire alarm that was found to have been caused by a resident burning a piece of toast.

A caller reported to Logan Police that a vehicle traveling north shot paintballs at his residence.

Jan. 23, 2003 An individual reported finding items that did not belong to him underneath his bed in his apartment. The items were placed into evidence.
