BLOTTER: Police news from the campus and community

Feb.7, 2003 It was reported to USU police that a parking gate arm had been broken by a vehicle driving through. Police are investigating.

An individual called USU police to report a stolen bicycle. The bike was last seen on the southeast side of the Taggart Student Center.

Feb. 8, 2003 USU police are investigating a report of a rape that occurred on campus. No further information is available at this time.

Feb. 9, 2003 Police and firefighters responded to a fire alarm at the Space Dynamics Lab. A broken fire sprinkler line caused the alarm.

Feb. 10, 2003 Police and the Logan Fire Department responded to the west stadium parking lot on a report of a vehicle that was leaking fuel. A hole in the gas tank was found and plugged by Logan firefighters, and the fuel was cleaned up by USU safety personnel.

An individual reported to USU police the loss of a bag that contained two bachelors’ diplomas.

Feb. 11, 2003 Police responded to the Edith Bowen Laboratory School on a complaint that someone had posted an unauthorized sign near the construction site. The sign was confiscated by police.

Police responded to an intrusion alarm at the Business Building computer lab and found a room full of students waiting for class to begin. The alarm was reset. Feb. 12, 2003 A caller reported to Logan police a large, brown dog trying to get into custody.

Feb. 13, 2003 A caller reported to Logan police that there were four individuals with masks on who were in his parking lot, walking up to his car and looking in at him.

Police responded to a report of a smell of smoke in the Agricultural Science Building. Logan City Fire and university electricians responded to assess the problem, which was determined to be a faulty light ballast.

USU police arrested an individual for disorderly conduct at the USU basketball game.

An individual reported to USU Police the theft of his blue mountain bike from the Engineering Building.

Feb. 14, 2003 An individual reported to Logan Police that there was a mattress in traffic.
