BLOTTER: Police news from the campus and community

Sept. 5

*USU Police received a report of a stolen parking permit that was taken out of an unlocked vehicle on campus. *USU Police received a report of a wallet theft from a book bag by the Tanner Fountain. *USU Police received a report of a wallet theft that occurred at the computer lab at the Taggart Student Center. *An individual left a khaki-colored backpack in the west Chase Fine Arts Center parking lot. When they returned, the backpack was gone. It was later discovered that a friend had picked up the backpack. *USU Police responded to the Fine Arts Center within three minutes for a suspicious incident. One person was arrested for disorderly conduct after he tried to initiate a physical fight. *An individual reported his wallet stolen from the Taggart Student Center. Sept. 6

*USU Police assisted Logan City Police with a traffic stop in the Sigma Chi parking lot. The suspect was arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol and was transported to Cache County Jail.

Sept. 7

*USU Police responded to Valley View Tower on a report of an individual urinating on the outside of the building. The subject was last seen entering the building, but was not found.

Sept. 8

*USU Police received a theft report of a backpack from the racks in front of the USU Bookstore. The backpack is a Quicksilver brand and is black and white in color. *A Mountain Tech SIS 1000 mountain bike was reported stolen from The Junction. The bike color is red and fades to white toward the back of the bike. The bike was not locked at the time of theft. *USU Police received a report of three individuals in a green truck driving on 1400 North and shooting paintballs at motorists. No further description of the vehicle was available. Police searched the area, but were unable to locate the suspects.

Sept. 9

*USU Police received a report of the theft of a wallet from the Old Main computer lab. The wallet was later located at the complainant’s house.

Sept. 10

*An individual reported his bike was stolen from the north side of Widtsoe Hall. The bike is a 10-speed Venter Road, orange in color. The bike was not locked at the time of theft. *USU Police responded to Richards Hall on a theft of a stop sign. The two individuals that stole the stop sign were located and cited for theft and the stop sign was retrieved.

Sept. 11

*USU Police received a report of an individual sitting on top of the Aggie Bull without any clothing. Police responded to the area within two minutes after being dispatched, but were unable to find anyone in the area. Police are investigating. *USU Police received a report of a bicycle taken from the HPER Building bicycle rack. The bike is a GT mountain bike, bright orange with black speckles. The bike was not locked at the time of theft. *USU Police received a report of a wallet theft that occurred on the 800 East shuttle bus. The wallet is described as being made of blue denim with black ribbing. The investigation is continuing.
