Boot-scootin’ boogie
One doesn’t have to travel far to have a boot-scootin’ jiggy-withit, root-tootin‚ ol’ time.
Just drive a few miles and you’ll find Logan’s only night life – Club Skyline. And soon it will be new and improved.
Skyline will be closed all this week and will reopen Feb. 12 with a new look. It has divided the front room into a karaoke area, which already existed and a new lounge will be waiting for patrons.
“We’re changing it into a bar atmosphere,” said one of the owners, Bryan Jenson.
No, there won’t be any alcohol served, but they are adding a choice of specialty drinks.
Also changing are the two main rooms. The country room and the (back) hip-hop room – or more commonly referred to as “the booty room” – will be adding platforms and stages.
This is to give it different levels.
The back room also will have an all-new sound system and laser show, Jenson said. And it will have a lounge and an oxygen bar, where one can hook up to oxygen tubes.
“It’s aroma therapy and you kind of get an oxygen high. Your body gets filled with O2 and you get more energy,” Jenson said.
The “Skybar 02” will offer 16 different aromas of oxygen.
Skyline is also getting two new disc jockeys. DJ Jeffery B is from Salt Lake and DJ Slip ‘n’ Slide comes from England.
All this will make it a better place – a better club, Jenson said.
Not that it wasn’t already popular. Thursday, college night, averages around 800 people, Jenson said.
“It’s known down in Salt Lake,” said freshman Amanda Allen, a communications major.
The other two nights, Friday (VFX radio night) and Saturday (Latin night,) will remain the same.
Jenson and his father, Lloyd, have been the owners for the last two and a half years.
“It’s fun to watch kids come here, a place where they can have fun,” Lloyd said. “A lot of phone numbers are exchanged.”
Bryan has been invited to two different receptions from people who have met at Skyline and later married.
In the meantime, Chase Petersen said he can’t wait for the club to reopen.
“It’s ruining my social life,” said Petersen, a freshman majoring in biology.
Dancers have to wait for that chance until next week when it will be open Feb. 12. The grand opening will be Feb. 19, where there will be a live broadcast and prizes.
Club Skyline is located at 339 N. Main Street.
