Cache Humane Society Animal Shelter

The recent article on the status of the Cache Humane Society’s new animal shelter was well-written and accurate, though saying the shelter “is at a standstill because it ran out of money” paints a rather bleak picture that I feel is unjustified. The CHS raised about $85,000 in donations from fundraisers, organizations, and individuals, and with the help of numerous local contractors was able to leverage that into about $150,000 worth of work going into the new building. The plan was to get the “shell” (exterior walls and roof) of the building up and the exterior windows and doors installed to close it in for the winter, which has been done. Now the emphasis returns to fundraising to finish the building and other required work (a turn lane in the highway, parking lots, etc.). Yes, the CHS needs to raise between $150,000 and $200,000 to complete the shelter, and is actively pursuing that (along with maintaining its foster and spay/neuter programs). When the shelter is completed, it will be the Valley’s central location to find a lost pet or adopt a new friend. The CHS looks forward to that day, and welcomes any help the community can provide.
