* Wanted: Outstanding undergraduate writers from across the university to assist faculty and students. The Rhetoric Associates program is now accepting applications for the 2003-2004 academic year. Applicants are asked to apply online: www.hass.usu.edu/~rhetoric by March 25 as those selected must be interviewed and pre-register for fall early in April. RA’s work with specific classes – often in their majors about 90 hours over the term, and earn $525 per term.
* Caffe Ibis, 52 Federal Ave, is a part of a local gallery walk from 7 to 9 p.m. on Friday, March 21. The Ibis will have an opening reception for the work of photographer Kirsten Schultz. Guitar performance major Ryan Conger will be performing from 7 to 9 p.m.
*The Cache Valley Folk Dancers and the Bridger Folk Music Society a “Lava Meltdown” weekend Contra Dance March 21 and 22, 7:30 p.m. the Lava Senior Citizens Center, in Lava, Idaho. Special guest caller, Cis Hinkle, from Atlanta, GA. accompanied by the band, Leaping Lulu. *The annual Miss Cache Valley Scholarship Program March 22, 7 p.m. in the Logan High School Auditorium. Tickets are $7 and are available at the door.
*Practical Pistol match March 22, 9 a.m. Cache Valley Hunter Education Center three miles west of Logan on Highway 30. Free to first-time participants. Fee $12 for CAPS members and $17 for non-members. Minimum caliber is 9mm Luger, and larger caliber pistols or revolvers may be used. Bring at least 150 rounds of ammunition. Ear and eye protection must be worn by all competitors and spectators. A required new-shooter orientation class in the main building before the match at 7:45 am. The match will be held rain or shine.
*There will be a 3-on-3 basketball tournament hosted by the USU Business Council and LDSSA. March 29, from 9 a.m. to 3 in the HPER and the Institute. with finals at 4:30 at the Spectrum. Cost is $8. *Susan Gray Blue Sky Scholarship for 2003-04 now available Women’s Center. Eligibility: Undergraduate Junior or Senior women, 2.5+ GPA and with minimum of 6 credit hours or a graduate woman, 3.0 GPA and with minimum 6 credit hours. Criteria: Majoring or minoring in visual arts ( can include an emphasis in the following: painting, ceramics, photography and two-dimensional art. Women’s Center, TSC, Room 310 Call 797-1728.

*Auditions for “The Celebrate America Show” March 20, 6 to 9 p.m. and March 22, 8 a.m. to Noon at the Greenville School in North Logan. Needed singers and dancers plus characters who can portray Bob Hope, George Burns and Gracie Allen. The Celebrate America Show is a musical celebration of the American Spirit held in September. Event includes dinner, dancing with a 17 piece big band orchestra, and a Broadway-style show. Also needed are people to work with the set plus a stage manager.
