ASUSU and Student Academic Council Spelling Bee 1 p.m., Register to participate in TSC 326 before, or in the lounge at noon that day. Prizes will be given to the winners!

October 31

ASUSU Howl, 8 p.m. – 1:30 a.m., USU students advance purchase at the ticket office $10 or $8 with 2 cans of food. USU students at the door $10, Non-USU students $15.

* Haunted Hall, Valley View tower 6th floor. 8:30 – midnight, Oct. 29 & 30. Free to on-campus residents. $2 all others.

* Go Trick or Treating for Cans for the Cache Valley Food Pantry. Come in Costume, Come Anytime, Stay as long as you like, and Help Serve The Community. Oct. 30 5 – 8 p.m. and Oct. 31, 12 – 7 p.m. Meet first floor TSC.

* Chi Omega Halloween Carnival. Oct. 31, 4 – 6 p.m., Nelson Fieldhouse. Families invited to attend a safe, fun and warm carnival on Halloween day. Utah State clubs organize booths with treats and entertainment for children. Admission: donation of one can of food per person or four cans per family. Food donations to the Cache Valley Food Pantry.

* Dept. of Music Wind Orchestra Concert. Oct. 31, 7:30 p.m., Kent Concert Hall. Tickets at door. Admission: Adults $5, senior citizens and non-Utah State students $3. Utah State students with ID are admitted free.

*LDSSA The Scream, Oct. 31, 8:00 – 11:30 p.m., Aztec Stake Center $2 if registered for Institute, $3 if not. Modest costumes, no masks/face paint. All young single adults are invited (18-30)

*Utah State Football vs. Middle Tennessee State, Sunbelt Conference game. Nov. 1, 1:05 p.m., Romney Stadium.@@ Utah Native Plant Society Annual Meeting Nov. 1, 1:00 p.m. a New World Pot Luck Dinner (bring a dish featuring ingredients originating in the Western Hemisphere), and talk by Dr. Richard Shaw, Director Emeritus of the Intermountain Herbarium. Dr Shaw will be giving his talk :”Pollination: Attraction, Reward and Sometimes Deception”. All members, prospective members, and their guests are welcome. * USU Faculty Forum Nov. 3, 3:00 to 5:00, Eccles Conference Center Auditorium. The annual Forum is an open discussion for all USU faculty where issues of significant importance are addressed. All faculty are invited to attend. The topics to be discussed are: Department Head Terms, Health Care Benefits, and Mentoring and Procedures for Promotion and Tenure. Also, the Provost will present the latest on University budget health. Refreshments will be served.

* The Cache Valley Folk Dancers and the Bridger Folk Music Society New England Style Contra Dance Nov. 1, 7:30 p.m., Whittier Community Center, 290 N. 400 E. Callers will teach each dance and beginners and families are welcome. Live music by Leaping Lulu (and friends). $5 donation at the door.

* USU is now accepting applications for the 2004 Undergraduate Research Day at the state capitol January 22. * Mountain West Center is accepting applications for 2003 Garth & Marie Jones Scholarship. Scholarship for up to 18 credits for Spring Semester 2004. Available to USU graduate or undergraduate student with a high record of academic achievement majoring in Humanities or Social Sciences, including Economics. Expected graduation date must not be before June 2004. Rural Utah applicants given preference for selection.
