March 9
– Arts & Lectures presents Dr. Ryan Jordan backpacking guru, will provide techniques for lightening your load. Stevenson Ballroom, Taggart Student Center, 3-4 p.m.
– The Fry Street Quartet with pianist Roberto Plano, 7:30 p.m., Performance Hall. $5 general admission, students free with ticket.

•Final Submission for Student Showcase Friday, March 10.
•Registration due March 10 for the 2006 Graduate research symposium. The $10 fee will be waived for the first 20 people to sign up. Get info and register at www.usu.edu/usugss/gsm2006.cfm.
•Join the USU Outdoor Recreation Center on a Spring Break Backpacking Trip, March 10-13. Dr. Ryan Jordan, ultralight guru, will accompany the group. Cost is $25, with a mandatory pre-trip meeting March 7, 7 p.m. . Register with the ORC by March 7, or call with questions, 797-3264.

•ORC rental special for Spring Break. Pay only the weekend rate and keep it for the whole break. Pick up equipment Friday, March 10 and return it Monday, March 20.

•USU’s debate team will be holding a public debate in the Taggart Student Center Sunburst Lounge at 12:30 p.m., March 23rd.

•The following scholarships are available from the USU Women’s Center, Room 315. 2006-07 Stephanie Osborne Scholarship. Eligibility: Undergraduate single senior women 24 yrs of age or younger who graduate fall ’06 or spring ’07. Criteria: 2.5+GPA, 6 credit hours, financial need, clearly stated educational goals, and involved in school & community activities. DEADLINE: April 3, 2006. The 2006-07 Dupont Endowed Scholarship for women and minorities in civil and environmental engineering. Eligibility: undergraduate women in civil/environmental engineering and engineering, undergraduate american minority men in civil & environmental engineering. DEADLINE: April 14, 2006

•Join Common Ground Outdoor Adventures in making St. Patrick’s Day pins. This art workshop will take place on Wednesday, March 8th 3 p.m.. Just $ 2 for participants, and volunteers are needed to assist us. We also provide outdoor recreation for people with disabilities.
