EVENTS:

•Outdoor Recreation Center workshop December 7, 4-6pm.  Participants will learn the basics of searching for a buried victim using an avalanche transceiver and other tools.  Cost is $7, or $5/USU students.  Call the ORC to register, or for more info, 797-3264.

•Christmas Choir Concert: Dec. 9 & 10, Combined Institute, USU Chamber, and Cache Children’s Choirs, 7:30 pm, USU Kent Concert HallPick up tickets from the Institute Bookstore. Suggested donation $5 Time: 8:00 am-2:00pm

•USU Ecology Center hosts Dr. Jon Swenson, scientist from the Norwegian University of Life Sciences. Two lectures: “Growth and reproduction in brown bears: a life history perspective” Dec. 7, 6 p.m. NR Bldg. Room 105. “Harvesting bears: do we understand what we are doing?”, Dec. 8, 3 p.m., NR Bldg. •Institute Cram Jam: Dec. 12 – 16. In the institute Joseph Smith study area. Come study and take a break from finals and enjoy some yummy food. The institute study areas, library, and classrooms will be available for students to study in.

•Christmas trees for sale on the Natural Resources Patio. $20 for a 6-7 foot tree. Come support the forestry club and buy a tree for the holidays.

•Register for spring semester at the LDS Institute in the study area or at www.lds.org/institutes.

• Flu shots available at the Student Health Center, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., $20.

• USU ORC Yurt reservations, for information call 797-3264 or www.usu/orc/yurt. Payment is due at the time the reservation is made. Bring your USU ID.

• SOSNR, Lazer Precision and USU Community Credit Union sponsoring a fundraiser. Recycle used print and ink-jet cartridges in black bins.

•Come help to form a USU chapter of Students against Sweatshops. Meetings start Spring semester. Contact rachelc@ext.usu.edu for more information. Organize for social and economic justice.
