Ag Week to begin Monday evening

The College of Agriculture will be holding its annual Ag Week celebration, running this week from Sept. 30 to the Oct. 4.

The week’s events begin Monday with a bonfire held at 7 p.m., followed by Cowboy Poetry and Refreshments on Tuesday at the Blue Barn, located at 1501 N. 800 East.

Wednesday’s activities include College on Campus on the grassy area southwest of the Taggart Student Center, held from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. The day continues with Quarter-Kabobs at 11:30 a.m., followed by the Ag Olympics on the Quad from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

The rest of the week includes a food drive service project Thursday from 3 to 6 p.m. and the Ag Day Barbecue on Friday afternoon. The barbecue will be held on the Ralph Maughan track and field from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. For more information on the events, contact the College of Agriculture at 797-2251.

Walt Disney World offers internships

The Walt Disney World College Program will be visiting Utah State University on Oct.15 in search of interns.

A representative will be speaking in the Taggart Student Center Ballroom at 6 p.m. on employment and internship options, as well as the benefits of the program, including the chance to meet students from around the world, build a résumé, and networking opportunities. It is open to all college levels and majors. Attendance at the presentation is required to interview. For more information, check the Web site at http://wdwcollegeprogram.com.

Business professor receives award

Robert Mills, assistant professor in the department of business information systems, received a national Award of Excellence from the International Association for Computer Information Systems.

Mills received the 2002 Ben Bauman Award for Excellence, which recognizes a young faculty member who shows outstanding promise and scholarship. Mills was recognized for being successful in teaching, research efforts and grant funding and has authored 10 refereed publications and 13 refereed presentations. He was nominated for Teacher of the Year in 2001.

The award will be given at the national meeting of the International Association for Computer Information Systems Oct. 4 in Ft. Lauderdale, Fla.

Pathfinder Fairs to continue this week

The Humanities, Arts and Social Sciences Advising Center, along with the Provost’s Office and Student Housing, is sponsoring a new program this year that will aid students in their quest to find a major.

Each of the university’s seven colleges, along with the Career Services Center, will be hosting an afternoon sometime in the semester to help answer questions for those students who want to learn more about any particular field of study.

This week, the College of Natural Resources will be holding its fair Thursday from 3 to 6 p.m.

The College of HASS fair will be Oct. 10 from 3 to 6 p.m. The College of Agriculture fair will be Oct. 17 from 3 to 6 p.m. The College of Business fair will be Nov. 12 from 3 to 5 p.m., and the College of Engineering fair will be sometime the week of Nov. 18.

All fairs will be held in the Student Living Center and refreshments will be served.
