Logan City to hold council meeting

A Neighborhood Council meeting is scheduled for Thursday, Sept. 19 at 7 p.m. at Ellis Elementary School, 348 W. 300 North.

Mayor Doug Thompson and Logan City staff members will discuss Bridgerland Park, the new elementary school, the park proposal, the 400 West Walkway project, area crime reports and Ellis School emergency preparedness.

There will be time for questions and answers. All residents are welcome.

Ecology Center hosts United Nations

The Utah State University Ecology Center is hosting a panel meeting for the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) in Park City Saturday, Sept. 14, through Saturday, Sept. 21.

A panel of scientists from around the world will present a report on the effects of ozone reduction on human health, terrestrial and aquatic ecosystems, regional air pollution and manmade materials. The panel includes delegates from 16 countries, as well as an additional 12 reviewers, who will comment on a draft of the report sent to them beforehand.

Asian Americans to hold cookout

The Asian American Student Council Cookout will be held Tuesday from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. on the Taggart Student Center Patio.

Study Abroad to host fair at USU

The second annual Study Abroad Fair will be held Monday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the Sunburst lounge. Participants have the possibility to win door prizes while learning about the opportunity to attend school in another country.

Resident wind quintet to play

Logan Canyon Winds, Utah State University’s faculty wind quintet, will present a concert Sunday, Sept. 29, at 4 p.m. in the Eccles Conference Center Auditorium. 

This is the first chamber music offered by USU’s music department this fall. The program features some of the master works for wind quintet. The program marks the end of the 10th year USU has brought programs by its resident wind quintet, Logan Canyon Winds, to the northern Utah community.

The concert is free and open to the public.

Workshops to teach landscaping

The Utah Conservation Corps is sponsoring a series of workshops that focus on creating personal, native landscapes. 

The activities will take place at Denzil Stewart Nature Park, 100 S. 700 East, and will be followed by live music from 6 to 7 p.m. The first workshop in the series is Bringing Butterflies to your Backyard, Sept. 21 from 4 to 6 p.m.

Tami Coleman from the Utah Native Plant Society will teach how to plant native vegetation to attract butterflies and other pollinators. Bring gardening tools. Contact Saundra at 797-0964, ext. 4, for more information.
