Scholarship fund hosts concert

On Friday from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m., Pier 49 Pizza will be presenting Long Night’s Journey in a concert to benefit the Rosa Hernandez Scholarship fund.

The scholarship fund was established to honor the memory of Rosa Hernandez, a 14-year-old student at the North Cache Freshman Center who was killed in an auto-pedestrian accident the last week of May 1988.

The scholarship is offered annually to an outstanding local Latina student and depends solely on contributions for its existence.

Long Night’s Journey is an eclectic jazz duo featuring vocalist Christine Christensen and guitarist Todd Milovich. Pier 49 Pizza will donate all profits from the evening to the Rosa Hernandez Scholarship.

Friends and family are welcome to gather at Pier 49 to eat some great pizza, listen to some smooth jazz and blues music and help provide a great future for a deserving young Latina student.
