Wrestling club being formed

Utah State University is in the process of adding a club wrestling team and invites all interested in being a part of the club to attend the club’s meeting on Monday in the club sports room of the Fieldhouse.

“It’s exciting that there will be wrestling here at USU. There is so much talent here in Utah and even here at USU,” said Brandon Ripplinger, the club’s president. “We know the interest is definitely here, so we’re expecting to see a good turnout at Monday’s meeting.”

The club will be a part of the National Collegiate Wrestling Association which will allow them to compete against other club teams in the area including NJCAA, NAIA and even NCAA Division I wrestling teams. The team will also compete in the Western Conference Championships in February and at the NCWA National Championships in March.

International festival to be held

Diwali, the largest international event held during the year on the Utah State University campus, is scheduled for Saturday in the Taggart Student Center Ballroom at 5:30 p.m.

Leadership center changes name What was formerly known as the Student Activities Department on the Utah State University campus has changed its name to the Student Involvement and Leadership Center.

“Student activities dashboard shows that the department is engaged in far more than simply student activity programming,” said Tiffany Evans, director of the Student Involvement and Leadership Center. “Student activities is not inclusive of all of the functions of our department or the involvement of student leaders at USU.”

The center includes a variety of clubs and organizations, including student government, the spirit squad, Greek life, athletics, intramurals, residence hall freshman interest groups and community service and academic honor societies.

For more information on the center, students are invited to an open house in Room 326 of the Taggart Student Center on Wednesday from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m., or students may contact Evans at 797-2911.
