New Creative Writing Contest Announced

This is the inaugural year of the Jenny and Thad Box Creative Writing Award. The College of Natural Resources is inviting submissions for the award which will cover one semester of in-state tuition. The winning entry will also be published in Petroglyph: A Journal of Creative Nature Writing.

Participants may enter essays, poetry, fiction or dramatic works that explore the relationship of people to the environment.

Requirements for submission include a cover letter stating intent to apply for the award with a mailing address and e-mail address and two copies of the writing to be considered. Please limit the length of any submission to one and 30 pages. For more information, contact Jana Kay Lunstad at 797-3856.

Terrorism to be discussed by USU faculty

War on Terrorism, a roundtable discussion will take place today at 12:30 p.m. in the Evan Stevenson Ballroom in the Taggart Student Center. The discussion will involve political science faculty members who will talk about the recent tragic events, terrorism and the possibility of war. President Kermit L. Hall will moderate the discussion.

Teddy bear benefit for children coming soon

The seventh annual Teddy Bear Run, a benefit for the Children’s Justice Center will be Saturday. Registration commences at Cycles and Sleds 680 W. 1770 South at 11 a.m. The cycles will leave at noon. Motorcyclists collect teddy bears so children who have been taken into protective custody – where sexual and physical abuse are suspected – are allowed to choose and keep one of those teddy bears to comfort them at this critical time in their life.
