Donations made to ice arena The Bridgerland Community Ice Arena (BCIA) received a donation of $30,000 from Gossner Foods, Inc. on Nov. 29. The donation, which will fund a unique program for Boy and Girl Scouts at the ice arena, came as a surprise to the arena administration. The donation will establish a permanent program at the ice arena called “The Edwin O. Gossner, Jr. Memorial Scouting Challenge.” The names for both Boy Scouts who complete the requirements for the Skating merit badge and Girl Scouts who complete the Ice Skating fun patch or the Winter Sports patch will be listed on a plaque commemorating Gossner. The contribution from Gossner’s will fund the cost of instruction, equipment rental and ice time for each Scout who wishes to complete the badge or patch requirements. Gossner Foods will also be recognized as the title sponsor for the BCIA Olympic Team Practice Sessions Jan. 5 through Feb. 17. As the title sponsor, the Gossner Foods logo and name will appear on the front cover of a souvenir program available during the Olympic teams practice sessions at the BCIA.

Café collects canned foods The European Connection Café is holding an event to collect canned food for the Cache Community Food Pantry and to raise money for the Logan and Cache County School Districts. Between Nov. 12 and Dec. 23, the European Connection will give a $1 discount on any crepe with the donation of a canned food item. The food will be donated to the Cache Community Food Pantry. In addition to collecting food, the European Connection will donate 25 cents to the school of the customer’s choice for every can of food donated. Pepsi Corporation will then award a grand prize to the school with the most donations, Greg Driggs, the owner of the European Connection, said.
