President Hall to deliver address

President Hall will be assessing where the university is and where it is heading in his State of the University Address today at 4 p.m. in the Sunburst Lounge of the Taggart Student Center.

Other events will begin at 3 p.m.

A student showcase will be displayed in the Sunburst Lounge from 3 p.m. to 4 p.m. Students from all the university’s colleges will be displaying current projects.

An informal reception with President Hall will follow the address from 5 to 5:30 p.m. It is open to the public.

A dinner reception will begin at 5:30 p.m. in which the food, decorations and entertainment will be provided by Utah State University students. Finally, there will be an Inaugural Student Scholarship Dinner at 6:30 p.m. Reservations are required.

Dance held in memory of student

The Black Student Union Club, Psi Sigma Phi, and Centennial Bank at Wal-Mart are sponsoring a dance today at 9 p.m. in honor of Utah State University student Michael De la O, who was killed in a car accident Sunday afternoon. The dance will be held at the USU Field House and the cost will be $3.

All proceeds will be donated to De la O’s mother and donations are welcomed. There will be a door prize and a live D.J.

Memorial Service for USU student

A memorial service will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. in the Utah State University Alumni Center for Michael De la O.

The memorial service will be held simultaneously with De la O’s funeral in California. The California services are as follows: Viewing today from 5 to 8 p.m. and Saturday from 10 to 11 a.m. The burial will commence Saturday at 11 a.m.

Barbecue held to fund scholarships

The seventh annual Ag Day in conjunction with the Utah Agriculture Products Barbecue will be Saturday at Utah State University from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. at the Ralph Maughan Track and Field Stadium, just north of Romney Stadium.

This year’s barbecue precedes the football match-up later that day between the Aggies and 10th ranked University of Oregon.

The barbecue will feature Utah beef, pork, lamb and turkey, dairy products, Dannon yogurt, a variety of flavors of milk and ice cream, apples, corn on the cob, a garden salad and the trimmings, all produced by Utah farmers and ranchers.

Live country music will also be featured.

The barbecue admission price is $7 per person for adults and $5 for children 11 and under.

The event will help to build a scholarship endowment set up in USU’s College of Agriculture.

It will also help students get the knowledge and training they need to excel as producers and future leaders in Utah’s agricultural industry.

Black Student Union welcomes everyone

Currently at 60 members, the Black Student Union (BSU) encourages everyone interested to join.
