Seventeen USU students qualified to represent USU at the national competition held in Nashville, Tenn., in June.

Campus parking lot closed for one day The east highway student “B” parking area south of 400 North at 1200 East will be closed all day Thursday. The closure is to help accommodate more than 100 student engineering teams who will be on campus for the International Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE) Mini Baja West competition. The competition challenges student teams to design and build a four-wheel, single-seat off-road vehicle and defend their design. Team vehicles will be displayed at Utah State University Thursday before moving south to a race site in Hyrum for weekend endurance tests. The event hosts students from more than 75 universities, and this is USU’s first year hosting the competition. Ralph Haycock, event organizer, said he understands the parking lot closure may be an inconvenience to some students but hopes USU will welcome the student guests that will come from all over the United States, Canada and Mexico. “For students who regularly park in the 400 North lot, we recommend parking in the stadium parking lot and riding the Aggie Shuttle to campus or using Logan Transit District buses or another alternative form of transportation to travel to campus that day,” said Sgt. Shane Sessions, enforcement supervisor for the USU Police Department.
