Cartwright named top Aggie

Landon Olson

Utah Statesman: You were named Big West co-player of the week in addition to Utah State athlete of the week. How much of an honor is it being named Big West co-player of the week, and what does it mean to you?

Erin Cartwright: I think it’s awesome. Last year, I didn’t get that. It’s cool because there are lots of girls in the Big West. It’s a cool honor.

US: You’re leading the team in attack percentage (.307), kills per game (3.90) and block assists (66). Which of those is the most important to you?

EC: One of my goals at the beginning of the season was attacking percentage, just being more consistent. So, I think that one is the most important to me.

US: You’re living with your teammate, Rickie Rigby. How is it living with a teammate and being around someone as much as you are?

EC: When you have a roommate like Rickie and she has a personality like she does, it makes it just more fun.

US: Being originally from Wellsville, what is it like living so close to home?

EC: I like it. My family is close; I’m really family oriented. I love my family. I like having them close, and whenever I need anything or just want to stop by, I can.

US: In your time at Utah State, the team has beaten BYU three times, most recently Oct. 8. How important is it for the new players to get a victory like that?

EC: I think it just shows them we don’t lose to BYU now. We have a tradition now that we can beat BYU and we will continue doing that. It just shows the younger girls they need to keep that streak alive.

US: What has been your biggest challenge in collegiate volleyball?

EC: Probably, just managing my time wisely. Kind of balancing school, balancing volleyball and social life would be the biggest thing.

US: Where is your favorite place to eat and what do you like to eat there?

EC: I’d have to say Teriyaki Stix; the chicken bowl is my favorite. It’s kind of a team tradition as well.

US: What is the funnest thing you’ve ever done on a road trip?

EC: Let’s see, something I can say in the paper. Probably in Hawaii, going to the beach. Just going to the beach in Hawaii was probably the funnest thing.

US: What’s the craziest thing you’ve ever done in college?

EC: I hate these questions. I don’t have a crazy thing. I really don’t.

US: If you could be on any of the reality TV shows, which one would you be on?

EC: Probably Survivor. I think it would be fun to just go out in the middle of nowhere and compete with other people. It’d be fun.
