CAUGHT ON CAMPUS: Student named after continent
Statesman: How did you get your name?
David: From the continent. My parents were listening to the radio and were hearing all of these things going on in Asia. They knew they were having a girl and thought it would be a pretty name.
US: Why did you chose USU?
David: I came up here a year before I graduated, for Homecoming. I saw how beautiful it was. I wasn’t interested until I saw the campus.
US: What do you like about campus?
David: I like the Quad and Old Main. Even in the cold, I think it’s beautiful here.
US: What did you eat for breakfast?
David: Oatmeal and a nectarine.
US: Are you always so healthy?
David: I try to be, definitely.
US: What do your pajamas look like?
David: T-shirts and comfy capris. Not really pajama pants, just comfortable clothing.
US: What’s your favorite sport?
David: If you consider gymnastics a sport, then gymnastics.
US: Do you do gymnastics?
David: When I was younger. I just watch now.
US: What is your favorite restaurant?
David: I love Italian and Chinese restaurants. Authentic Chinese.
US: Are you a True Aggie?
David: Yes.
US: Did you know the guy?
David: Yes. It was my first semester up here. It was a fun experience. Not what I pictured though, when everyone is around the A.
US: Juice or water?
David: Water
US: Why?
David: After I took a nutrition class, I found out a lot of things. The body needs water.
US: If you could be a superhero, who would you be?
David: I don’t think I could be one, but I liked Batman growing up. The whole Bat Mobile and Bat Cave is pretty cool.
US: What’s your favorite color?
David: Blue. I absolutely love anything blue. Any shade as long as it’s blue.
US: Is that why you really came to USU?
David: That was definitely a plus.
US: If money weren’t an issue, what job would you want?
David: Probably the same thing I’m doing now.
US: Which is?
David: I want to go into international relations and work with humanitarian aid.
US: Do you want to go to graduate school?
David: It’s definitely an option. If everything works out.
US: What do you want to do with humanitarian aid?
David: Go to other countries, especially Africa and Asia, since that’s where there is poverty.
US: What’s your favorite season?
David: Summer.
US: Do you have Asian background?
David: Yes. My father is from the Philippines. I spent some time there.
US: How is it different from America?
David: People there are shy and humble. They don’t have anything, but will offer you everything they have. It makes you humble. Everyone is shorter than you are. You stick out like a sore thumb.
US: If you could go anywhere in the world, where would you go?
David: Africa – in a second. I would like to spend at least two weeks doing humanitarian aid there.
US: What is the biggest risk you’ve ever taken?
David: Falling in love, but that’s cheesy.
