Colombi transfers to Texas Tech, rejoins Matt Wells
Five days after his decision to transfer from Utah State became public, junior quarterback Henry Colombi has announced he will rejoin former Aggie head coach, Matt Wells, at Texas Tech.
The commitment was announced via Colombi’s Twitter account where he shared this statement:
“First off, I would like to thank Aggie nation for welcoming me into their family 3 years ago and showing nothing but love and support. I have created a number of relationships and memories that I will cherish forever. Logan will always have a special place in my heart and I am thankful for my time here. The last week has been very overwhelming, and I would like to thank all of the schools who have reached out to me during this time and given me an opportunity to play for them. Through days of prayer and conversations with my family, it was clear to me that God has a plan for me and I trust him to lead me in the right direction. With that being said, I will be spending my next two years with the coaches that believed in me and my potential from the very beginning. I am very excited to announce that I am committed to Texas Tech University. #GunsUp”

Colombi’s transfer came right on the heels of former University of Utah quarterback, Jason Shelley, committing to play in Logan for Gary Andersen.
In the two season Colombi played he appeared in 11 total games, almost exclusively blowouts, attempting 69 passes and completing 53 of them (76.8 percent) for 460 yards, two touchdown passes and one interception. Colombi also ran for 139 yards and two rushing scores.
Wells, who recruited Colombi and was his head coach for the Florida native’s redshirt and freshman seasons. In his one season under Wells in 2018, Colombi completed 33 of 40 passes for 239 yards in five appearances as the backup to Jordan Love. Wells left Utah State prior to the Aggies’ bowl game in 2018, accepting the head coach position at Texas Tech, taking offensive coordinator David Yost and effectively all of the coaching staff with him.
