COLUMN: College of Business plans changes to Business Week

Welcome back Aggies. This is going to be a great year, especially if you’re in the College of Business. Good things are happening. I encourage you to get involved in this year’s College events and club activities. These will provide excellent opportunities for you to meet people, network and have fun. The College of Business at Utah State University is the place to be.

Business Week will be held November 5 through the 9, instead of in the spring like last year. As a Business Council, we felt there would be more excitement and student involvement if it were held earlier in the school year.

Tom Dorsey, founder of the investment advisory firm Dorsey, Wright & Associates, will be flying in from Richmond, Va., to speak. He is a stock-market expert and is highly respected on Wall Street. Other Business Week activities planned for this year, besides food and fun, include an Internship, Graduate Schools and Alumni-networking Forum.

The Business Council will be publishing a monthly College newsletter beginning in September. This will help you keep up-to-date on what’s happening within the College. It will feature student and faculty highlights, success stories and information about clubs and internships. The purpose of this newsletter is to help students to be more excited about what they’re going into. We have quality students and we need to be aware of their successes.

As your College of Business senator, I want our students, faculty, employers and schools to know of our successes so we can strengthen our image. If there is anything we can do to better accomplish this, I want to know. Please feel free to contact me at slw0q@cc.usu.edu with any ideas, suggestions or complaints you may have. Let’s work together and make this a great year.

James Ellis
