COLUMN: Let the student voice be heard

Jacob Moon

Let me join with the other two folks on this page in welcoming you back to wonderful Utah State. There isn’t another university in the country that provides such a great place to live and study.

Sometimes our lives as students can get packed with far too many responsibilities. Obviously, we all have to worry about tests and homework, and many of us are also trying to balance a job and/or a social life. But part of living in a close-knit community such as ours is keeping up on the news and events around us.

On campus, there are always changes being made in adminstration, contruction taking place around every corner and activities taking place almost every evening. As an editor and fellow student, I invite you to look to The Statesman to find out the latest campus and community news. This will include the highlights and achievements of our peers and the dissappointments we see around us.

Not only is the newspaper a great way to keep up on events, it is also a perfect way to voice your opinion.

Take advantage of the opinion pages. I’m probably writing this to the wrong audience – if you are reading this you don’t need convincing to pick up a paper – but the campus newspaper is read regularly by almost all of the adminsitration and a large portion of the student body.

Not only do we at The Statesman want to know what the campus community is going through, I am positive that the faculty and our peers want to know as well.

Let your voice be heard.
