Computer Common Sense

ryguy@cc.usu.edu

Why is it that when some people leave a computer lab, they leave their MSN or Yahoo Chat accounts open or have their USU webmail accounts minimized at the bottom of the computer screen?

Do they not realize that the next person who uses that same computer, if they were to be of a malicious nature, could change their passwords, or send out offensive e-mails to other people, or do any other number of unethical things (if I were of a malicious nature, I’d have more ideas)?

I personally don’t mind chatting with other people’s online buddies sometimes. It usually is a good diversion from the paper I am writing anyway. But seriously, as a matter of protecting your privacy, I would advise everyone to log-out of the chat programs and Webmail programs before they leave the computer labs.

Sincerely,

Ryan Guyryguy@cc.usu.edu
