Roseburg

CONCERT REVIEW: The Return of Roseburg

On Friday, the band Roseburg returned to Logan, Utah after almost four months.

They performed with punk rockers Harbor Patrol and The Rompstompers. Whysound, the quaint venue off of Federal Ave, was packed with patrons ready for an incredible show.

Harbor Patrol and The Rompstompers did a great job as openers, opening the floor for a mosh pit. Fans cheered and clapped after each song, creating a positive and supportive atmosphere of happy concert-goers.

Named after a town in Oregon they spent time in, Roseburg consists of four members: lead vocalist Zach Knell, keyboardist and guitarist Samuel Sheppard, bassist Soren Buchert and drummer Keith Lambson. Their debut album, “Righteous Punk,” is set to be released on Feb. 18.

One look into the crowd was all you needed to see how dedicated the fans were, sporting their Roseburg shirts. It helped, though, that the band was giving them out, preparing for a new round of merchandise for their new album.

The group played “Wave,” which grossed over a million plays on Spotify, and “Identity Prices,” which sits at a cool 300,000. Their newest songs are singles from the new album such as “RIP,” featuring Kellin Quinn of Sleeping With Sirens, “Goodnight Punk” and “Be Good.”

An energetic crowd is all it takes to make or break a show and Roseburg knew how to keep the crowd going. From splitting the audience down the middle for a singing contest to having a heart-to-heart with Knell, there was never a dull moment during the two-hour set. Despite a couple of technical difficulties, the boys showed confidence, resilience and a passion for their music. They obviously cared deeply about all the people in their audience.

Formed only two years ago, Roseburg has quickly increased in popularity, proving their talent and capability in the music world. In addition to plenty of shows in Utah, talk of tours are in the pipeline. You can catch Roseburg at their next show Friday, Feb. 21 at The Rise in Orem, Utah and find their new album “Righteous Punk” on any streaming platform.
