Council discusses honor code

The focus of the Associated Students of Utah State UniversityAdvisory Council meeting on Wednesday, was centered around the new Honor Code proposal for administration and students.

The main order of business at the meeting was the new honor code that ASUSU has created for students and administration at USU. Andy Hawes, Academic Vice President, said the council is going to be able to introduce and implement this code in a way everyone on campus will be informed.

Though the code has not been passed, there are still many concerns voiced by those attending the meeting. Many on the council are concerned with the need to make a change when students at the university are not even aware the code even exists.

One main point is in the marketing of the code and to clarify the importance, Hawes said.

The administration at the university is behind the new honor code completely, Hawes said.

The faculty will be able to educate their students on the code in their own concise way.

The honor code is still in revision and the council will discuss it more next week.

There is a copy of the proposal on the USU Web page for students to review and be informed.

Hawes said this code is only a small step in making an improvement at the university.
