Cross Country runs to 13th
Not only did senior cross country runner David Danley lead the men’s cross country team for the third meet in a row, he was also able to shave 58 seconds off his time from last year at the Griak Invitational in Minnesota.
Danley led the men to a 13th place finish this year out of 25 teams at the invitational. He competed in the 8-kilometer race and finished 17th in a field of nationally ranked opponents.
His time was 24:52. His teammates Clark Bryner and Trevor Ball also had good showings. Bryner taking 37th with a time of 25:16 and Ball taking 56th with a time of 25:35.
With six runners in the top 10, the Wisconsin Badgers dominated and took their 11th Griak title.
Lida Riplinger took 67th place in the six-kilometer race as the aggie women were able to take 19th out of 29 teams. Her time was 22:41.
“We placed a lot higher this year and really accomplished something,” coach Gregg Gensel said.
The cross country team will travel to Terre Haute, Ind., for the NCAA pre-nationals Oct. 16.
