Cruising in style: New scooter store unique to Cache Valley

While gas prices are continuing to make a dent in student’s pockets, Greenline Scooters is working to keep transportation costs at a minimum.

Greenline Scooters is unique to any transportation-type store in Logan. Located on 565 N. Main, Co-owner Ken Cannon said the store sells solely scooters, electric bikes and scooter accessories. Cannon said the store was created because of a great need for economical transportation. He said gas prices won’t stay as nice as they currently are and something needed to be available for Cache Valley residents when prices rose.

“This is a way we can provide a great service to the people in the community and the students at the university,” Cannon said, “because right now we are the only scooter store in town and we are easy to access. You can ride the bus down to us and ride your scooter home.”

Co-owner Bruce Torson said scooters provide many benefits and many features to the owner. For example, Torson said a scooter with a 49cc engine will get 80 to 100 miles per gallon in gas mileage. A 125cc engine will get 70 to 90 miles per gallon.

However, Cannon said scooters aren’t the only thing that Greenline Scooters provide. He said they also have a selection of electric bikes. Torson said an electric bike is a bike that is pedaled by electricity. He said the rider can pedal or use a motor to get the bike moving. Torson said the electric bike is great for any student because there is no license required to ride it. He said the bike can also be parked in normal bike racks and can ride up hills with ease.

“These bikes can go 20 miles per hour without pedaling and 20 miles on a single charge,” Torson said, “but if you pedal it goes longer and faster.”

However, only exclusively selling scooters and electric bikes is not the only thing that makes Greenline Scooters unique. Cannon said Greenline Scooters also provides a scooter repair shop to keep the scooters is tip-top shape.

“There is not another scooter shop around, so we are happy to provide that service,” Cannon said.

Casey Hibbard, the store’s shop manager, said he is open a couple of days throughout the week doing maintenance repairs on the scooters. He said he does anything from spring tune-ups to large repair jobs.

“He is amazing,” Torson said. “He can figure anything out.”

Not only is Greenline Scooters available for student’s transportation needs, but Cannon said Greenline Scooters is working with the scooter club in Cache Valley and the students by sponsoring meetings at the store.

The grand opening of Greenline Scooters will be Saturday, March 28. Torson said he encourages all students to come and check out what the store has to offer. He said they are also giving away an electric bike and scooter accessories.

“We are planning on having a good time and letting people know we are here,” Torson said.

Hibbard said students need to take some time and check out the many benefits owning and purchasing a scooter has.

“How much do you have to pay for a parking pass on campus?” Hibbard said. “One of  the coolest parts about having a scooter is that you get to cruise around campus and get to class easier.”

Torson said not only do the scooters have benefits but the customers are the store’s number one priority.

“We are new and we want to keep a killer reputation,” Torson said. “We don’t ever want to get a bad reputation. That is easy to do in Cache Valley, so we will take care of our customers.”

I just changed that from “their” because I was trying to make it more specific. If you want to change it back, that is totally fine.
