Dancing with the Aggies returns to USU
“Dancing with the Stars” has existed on live television for 13 years, and has completed 25 seasons.
But two years ago in 2016, members of Utah State University Student Association decided they wanted to add an Aggie twist to the television show by bringing a touch of Hollywood to Logan.
Thus, “Dancing with the Aggies” was born. The Aggie-style show began in 2016, took a break in 2017 and is now back for its second year.
Chelsea Beckstead serves on the Traditions Committee, which is sponsoring this event.
“The idea came from wanting a new event to attract more students and helping them get involved,” Beckstead said. “We wanted to bring it back this year and we are so excited.”
Beckstead said students can expect to see a lot of talent, and they should also be prepared to have some fun.
Along with her committee, Beckstead helped pick the 10 couples who will be competing.
Each Aggie star is paired with a choreographer who also picks their dance style. Each couple will be dancing a different style. The winner will receive a trophy and flowers.
“This year we have many different styles of dance and a lot of personality,” Beckstead said. “All the contestants have great routines and I can’t wait for USU to see their talent.”
Dancing with the Aggies will take place at 7 p.m. on April 2, 2018 in the Taggart Student Center Ballroom.
“It’s going to be a fun event, and one students won’t want to miss,” Beckstead said.
