Department of Public Safety puts Logan Campus on lockdown

On June 12 at 9:25 a.m. an Aggie alert from the department of  public safety was sent out stating all of Logan Campus’s exterior building doors were to be locked until further notice.

The alert stated “Due to police activity near campus, Police have instructed campus to lock all exterior doors. There is no current threat to life.”

The incident took place at Hillcrest elementary, where according the press release sent out by Logan City Police, Christopher Thurston, 35 entered the elementary building and barricaded himself in an office. Thurston then later made his way onto the roof of the building to evade the officers but was eventually made contact with and taken into custody.

Department which USU police are worked in collaboration with Logan City police to address the incident.

The all clear alert was sent out at 9:54 a.m.
