The newly elected members of the ASUSU Executive Council held their first meeting Tuesday to prepare themselves for the upcoming 2006-07 school year.

“What an opportunity, this is really exciting,” President Noah Riley said. “We want to make sure when we get back in the fall that the wheels are already turning.”

To start off next year’s work, the council approved a list of six students that will represent Utah State University’s student body on the Judicial Board Hearing Pool. These new members are: Michael Deamer, Vance Daniels, Josh Kerkman, Cam Lee, Katie Holmes and Allison Furniss.

This board also includes selected faculty and administration.

Members of the council also approved Zach Ames as the university’s City Council liason. Ames will sit on the Logan City Council.

“This is a brand new position,” Vice President Troy Smith said. “He won’t have a voting right, but he’ll have a spokesman right.”

Ames will update the council on a regular basis about issues involving the university.
