Downtown Logan changes applaudable

Over the past six months, much effort has been put into starting the revitalization of downtown Logan.

The Logan Downtown Alliance hired Bob Marcolese as its downtown manager and efforts are being made to bring people downtown, instead of letting them partake in entertainment on the outskirts of the city.

The Lotoja Street Festival and the upcoming Utah State University Homecoming Downtown Jazz Stampede are good examples of events to generate more interest in downtown.

Logan City is giving a full committment to its downtown and that can be seen through recent government construction in the area.

New buildings like the United States Post Office, Logan City Police Station and the new Cache County Administration Building are built to look like buildings from the early 1900s. The city is holding new construction to a high standard of architecture, something that will ensure the area remains vibrant and stable.

Logan also has a very busy theater district for a city of its size. With the Caine Lyric Theatre, Ellen Eccles Theatre and multiple movie theaters in downtown, there is rarely a shortage of night-time events for Cache Valley residents to attend.

The city of Logan should be applauded for its efforts to keep downtown a viable place to go for retail, dining and entertainment. The atmosphere they are working to create will go a long way to helping future generations value the area as one of the highlights of Cache Valley.
