Earth Day Coverage

I picked up a copy of the Statesman on Wednesday, the 24th of April and was very disappointed. This addition was printed soon after the well-planned Earth Day activities. Unfortunately, all the effort and planning put into commemorating Earth Day received pitiful coverage by the Statesman. I appreciate the picture in the Statesman of the recycling center’s display; nevertheless, I was upset to learn that after a day of environmental awareness, the Statesman would chose to run an article about four-wheel-drive motorized recreation rather than a story related to Earth Day. I understand there is a lot of enthusiasm for this form of recreation in Cache Valley. However, the pollution and destruction associated with off road recreation vehicles undermines the values promoted on Earth Day. Running the four-wheel-drive article right after Earth Day was tacky and poorly timed.
