E.B. White’s Classic Tale “Charlotte’s Web” Opens at the Caine Lyric Theatre

Audiences can witness the unlikely friendship of Wilbur and Charlotte unfold in E.B. White’s timeless classic “Charlotte’s Web,” opening July 23 at the historic Caine Lyric Theatre in downtown Logan. The stage presentation features the Old Lyric Repertory Company apprentices in their showcase production.

“‘Charlotte’s Web’ is an endearing show that the whole family will enjoy,” said Dennis Hassan, artistic director of the OLRC and professor in the Caine College of the Arts at Utah State University. “We have fantastic actors and apprentices in the company this year, including character actors who play the different animals in Wilbur’s barnyard.”

Watch as the unlikely friendship between Wilbur the pig and Charlotte the spider captures the amazement of the entire state fair. The apprentice production is sure to warm the hearts of every family member, Hassan said.

Each spring apprentices audition for the opportunity to work with the OLRC throughout the summer. Working alongside theater professionals, the interns gain hands-on experience backstage, onstage and in the orchestra pit. The apprentices have been working on this show all summer and they are eager to share it with the community, said Hassan.

The OLRC will also present as part of its 46th summer season “Steel Magnolias,” “Private Lives,” “Big River: The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn,” “Lend Me a Tenor,” and “Greater Tuna.” Each show is presented on selected dates June through August at the Caine Lyric Theater, located at 28 West Center Street in downtown Logan.
