End of year banquet features food, dance from around the world
Jules Vern tells the tale of a man who tried to travel the world in 80 days but this weekend students at Utah State University will be able to do it in three hours.
The International Student Council will be holding their annual International Banquet Saturday April 2. The event will be held in the Taggart Student Center Ballroom. Doors will open at 5:30 p.m. with dinner scheduled to be served at around 6:30. After the meal a performance by USU students from various countries will be given.
“We’d like to encourage people to come and try some international cuisine and get to know international students at Utah State and see what they have to offer,” said Abinash Bhattachan, a junior studying watershed science and the ISC’s student life vice president.
The evenings meal will consist of a spicy chicken curry from India, Mongolian chicken from China, an Angolan fish dish along with salad, rice and beans.
Bhattachan, who will be singing in the show, said the night’s entertainment will including performances from around the world including Indian dancing, a performance of salsa dancing and a vocal/violin performance by Mami Matsumoto, the current Ms. International.
There year’s International Banquet was arranged with help from the Multicultural Student Union and its various organizations
“We would just like to, like we’ve said all year, make sure everyone knows that all people are invited to come,” Bhattachan said. “We want anyone to come.”
The ISC plans on selling 500 tickets to this year’s event and encourages people to get their tickets in advance. Tickets are available at the ticket office in the TSC and are $12 for adults, $8 for student with ID and $6 for children between 6 and 12. Tickets not sold before the event will still be available at the door.
